Who we are looking for

A Management Information Systems Deputy Manager to be responsible for the substantial expansion of the regulatory software development function whilst overseeing and developing the smooth operation of the function.

International regulators require gambling companies to write software and reporting systems to communicate jurisdiction specific information to them. These requirements range from multi-millions of submissions per day to full year analytics reporting.

Our long term strategy is to gain licenses through the world’s regulated markets as they are made available and the MIS teams’ output is key to that strategy.

The software used includes high throughput database centric distributed applications, batch reporting, SOAP/REST API integration, windows and web services, web applications, SSRS and more. Given the importance of the system payloads these applications must be tuned for performance, be extremely reliable and of a very high quality.

You will have line management responsibility and full responsibility for the output of the team, their development and ensuring they meet the Company’s regulatory objectives.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Preferred skills and experience

Experience of leading technical software engineering teams, ideally with a focus towards building high performance and high volume real time database centric distributed systems.
Good understanding of software architectures and patterns such as distributed systems, database driven architectures, asynchronous processes, queuing, multi-threading, event driven development, REST and SOAP APIs, web and OS service applications.
Knowledge and experience implementing software development methodologies and techniques such as Agile (Kanban, Scrum, XP, LEAN, Crystal etc.) and Waterfall.
Previous experience of commercial RDBMS and OO development; ideally, but not limited to, SQL Server and C#.
Ability to understand extremely complicated business models and adapt these to third party models.
Commercial experience implementing appropriate processes, procedures, documentation and software engineering practices to produce early delivery of high quality, working software.
Demonstrable ability to spot great talent placing equal weight on both the technical skill and aptitude of new hires.
Experience of motivating skilled teams whilst fostering a strong team spirit encapsulating values of respect, collaboration and a desire to produce the very best software.
Experience of working within a regulatory framework and an appreciation of the significance and sensitivities this involves.
Ability to work to tight deadlines, under pressure, at a fast pace, under changing conditions and priorities.

Ensuring that the highest levels of governance and quality are achieved using industry standard techniques and processes.
Delivering green field projects and functional changes on time according to externally set timelines.
Ongoing maintenance of a varied and growing technical estate.
Taking responsibility of stakeholder management including Compliance, Accounts, Tax, Change, InfoSec, Infrastructure, Software Development, Project Management, 3rd parties and Senior Management.
Implementing the best elements of industry standard software development methodologies.
Ensuring specific documentation is produced as necessary for the smooth running of the function.
Understanding all planned and in-flight projects to a competent technical level in order to provide detailed, regular progress updates to Senior Management.
Promoting an ongoing programme of continual improvement and platform refreshes.
Taking responsibility for the recruitment and professional development of technical staff.
