Who we are looking for
A DevOps Platform Engineer to assist in providing and supporting a platform for the timely delivery of enhancements to our product portfolio.
You will be responsible for ensuring quality of delivery of fit for purpose test environments using automated processes.
We are looking for a motivated, well organised self-starter with a passion for learning new skills and technologies. You will be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive can do attitude. Having the ability to adapt to a very diverse and reactive working environment will help you in this role while managing multiple tasks to tight deadlines.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.
Preferred skills and experience
Experience with the administration of automated server build tools including Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Terraform and Ansible.
Knowledge of both functional and non-functional.environment types.
Experience of platform containers including Docker and Kubernetes.
Good understanding of environment tiers and roles such as DR, HA and load balanced.
Experience of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Groovy, Python, Perl and Shell including best practices and coding standards.
Experience with incident and problem management including troubleshooting, triaging and problem solving.
Degree qualified in Computer Science or a similar discipline, or proven experience in a relevant role.
Experience working with databases such as SQL, PL and pgSQL, including DB design, DB structure and writing stored procedures is desirable.
Experience using monitoring tools such as Nagios, Nimsoft and Grafana is desirable.
Knowledge of web development including Flask, HTML, CSS and JavaScript is desirable.
Main Responsibilities
Provisioning of test environments to support the delivery of enhancements from the development teams.
Building and configuring the environments ensuring they are fit for purpose, have the latest versions of applications installed and are ready to be used as quickly as possible.
Incident and problem management for non-production environments.
Triaging and identifying the causes of issues, escalating with different business functions and managing them to resolution.
Maintaining and administrating key application tools used by the development function for version control, package management and code analysis.
Maintaining and evolving automation processes to support development CI/CD.
Supporting the development community processes and tools.
Engaging with project delivery and infrastructure teams to identify and understand requirements for new environments as early as possible.
Managing the backfill design of new functionality into the established estate, including the retrofitting of any needed automation.
Keeping up to date with new processes and technologies to improve time to market.
