Who we are looking for

A Cloud Platform Manager who will help to build and run our public cloud platform as part of our growing DevOps function.

Initially you will be focused on establishing and managing the team and processes, whilst advising on the organisational changes needed to support cloud adoption. Following this, you will be responsible for building out the transformation plan to adopt cloud practises.

A long-term initiative has been mobilised to build a public cloud capability to be an equal with the Company’s on premise know-how, creating a seamless hybrid operating model delivering against the needs of the Business.

We are looking for someone to bring in the skills and experience needed to shape this new capability. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of adaptability to work across the Technology department building the new team, processes and engagement models.

You will be an experienced and proven Cloud Delivery Manager looking to take on a new and fulfilling challenge or a Senior Cloud Architect seeking a move into management.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

Preferred skills and experience

Significant and broad public cloud experience at scale, preferably with Google Cloud.

Experience in a prominent technical leadership role as a manager or leader of technical engineers.

Successful programme level delivery skills ideally in a cloud transformation context.

In depth understanding of modern platform stacks such as Kubernetes or GKE, as well as affiliated technologies and workflows including service mesh/ingress, CI/CD, monitoring stacks and security instruments.

Strong internal and external stakeholder management and presentation skills, including C-Suite communication and management of 3rd parties.

Ability to navigate between strategic thinking and decision making, as well as operational and delivery management.

Clear grasp of security considerations when operating in the public cloud.

Practical understanding of financial management in the cloud and FinOps concepts.

Proficiency operating with Infrastructure as Code using industry standard tooling; preferably Terraform.

Main Responsibilities

Building and managing a geographically dispersed cloud platform function, working with senior technology stakeholders; guiding both them and your team.

Taking accountability for the end to end delivery of public cloud pathfinder initiatives and acting as a key escalation point where necessary.

Working with and influencing others to advocate and lead technical aspects of our journey to the Public Cloud.

Using your subject matter expertise to support and consult with the senior management team.

Driving engineering excellence across your team by fostering modern engineering practices and processes.

Recruiting, on boarding and mentoring members of your team.

Working with and managing 3rd parties where necessary to achieve strategic goals.

Working with our Finance team to ensure robust financial management and reporting, whilst driving spend optimisation.
