What do our staff enjoy most about working for us?

I manage multiple software development projects from conception through to delivery and I particularly like the variation of the role. My day will start with a team stand up, where we run through what we have planned for that day, including any issues or pending releases which are going live. The rest of the day is often made up of meetings which can be project kick-off meetings, checkpoint meetings and release planning meetings. We interact with teams across Technology to establish work package progress, helping to mitigate delivery risks and issues. In order to provide a target live date for a project we would need to create a plan. We will then manage the project until the point where it is ready to release to live. A release plan will be created between the Project Manager and all teams who have something to release to live.
The three things I love most about my role are that no day is ever the same, you are always learning something new about the technology we use, and the satisfaction of completing a project and seeing the changes reflected on the website.
My advice for anyone thinking of applying for a role with bet365 would be…go for it! You won’t find a better place to work alongside some of the most talented people in the business. There are lots of opportunities for good career progression, with a great rewards scheme.

I’m a Software Development Technical Lead in the Gaming team, which oversees various different sites – Bingo, Casino, Games, Poker and Slots. As a Technical Lead, I set the technical direction of a project and clear the way of any programming hurdles that may arise. My day-to-day includes closing any technical knowledge gaps, finding answers to Development Team questions, or streamlining existing operations. Sometimes I get my hands dirty and get to do some coding as well. After two years here, we opened offices in Bulgaria, so I had the opportunity to move over there to train the new staff. I worked over there for several months. That was a point when I really realised, clearly I’m a valued member of staff.
As a person, before joining bet365, I was a little bit shy. In such a big environment, dealing with lots of people on a daily basis, I’ve had to make decisions with colleagues that I’ve never met before and we work together to triage and fix issues. It's definitely helped improve my communication skills.

Every day we deal with live issues; I come in and the first thing I do is check the server reports, in case we have a major issue from overnight. My technical skills have improved massively and that’s given me some great opportunities.

I like that there's a huge amount of variety in terms of the work involved, which really keeps me engaged while I get to analyse and explore so many different aspects. I was offered the role off the back of projects I’d worked on as part of my previous role. It seemed like a good opportunity to develop my skills within a more specialised area and use the skills I've acquired to facilitate progress in a new department.
